Parkside living is hot these days in Atlanta, with the high-rises going up in the blocks west of Piedmont Park commanding astronomical rents.
While Midtown’s signature greenspace may be the first park that comes to mind for many Atlantans, Chastain Park at the northern reaches of Buckhead is actually the largest park in the city.
Complete with a golf course, amphitheater for large concerts, horse park, swimming pool, baseball fields, and what could be Atlanta’s coolest new playground, the park is a major draw for folks who can snag homes in the surrounding neighborhood.
Soon, there will be 32 opportunities to do just that, as Southeast Capital Companies—the same group overhauling the Masquerade in Old Fourth Ward—is constructing a new cluster of single-family homes near the park.
According to the development’s website, Chastain East is replacing 15 homes that stood on 8.4 acres along Wieuca Road, just off Roswell Road.
Each new home will be big (that’s shocking), boasting around 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor living space, and the prices will match. The smallest homes—with just four bedrooms and three-and-1/2 baths—will start around $1 million.
For the money, the properties will be tricked out with high-end appliances, five-inch wood-plank floors, marble counters, and hunky molding.
With all those homes gobbling up the lot, proximity to the park will provide what will likely be much-needed green space.
And unfortunately, all the money in the world won’t change the fact that immediately next to the development is a fire station. (Which would help, of course, in the actual event of fire).
But for those wanting to live in Buckhead, with easy access to both greenspace and a bustling commercial corridor (as well as slots in the coveted Jackson school cluster), Chastain East may just fit the bill.
With construction already underway, expect to see the first homes deliver later this year.
