Following the Georgia General Assembly's passage of a bill allowing it, Dekalb County residents within its sets boundaries will get to vote on whether Brookhaven should become a city or not in July. Sponsors and supporters of the bill see it as the logical progression of the movement that began with Chamblee, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs. Opponents have injected the issue of race, equating the move with "racial gerrymandering." Lots of interesting issues coming on this July ballot...mark you calendars for July 31st!
