A glassy edifice called "Cyan on Peachtree" will soon take shape on ground once occupied by legendary Atlanta restaurant Dante's Down the Hatch. Construction has started on the 329-unit Cyan, which has changed significantly from earlier renderings. The property will include a 23-story residential tower (aesthetically similar to various Novare offerings) and an adjacent, seven-level parking structure, officials announced this week. Earlier plans indicated the tower would rise about 10 stories, with a smaller parking piece. In any case, the project will occupy a prominent slice of Peachtree Road where the pricey fondue institution operated until last year, replete with a live crocodile.
According to a press release, construction began this month, and Cyan could welcome its first residents as early as the second quarter of next year, when competition for renters could be fiercer. The slightly taller SkyHouse Buckhead by Novare is expected to open around the corner in the first quarter of next year.
Officials said Cyan will offer apartments averaging 838 square feet, with 57 percent of them being one-bedrooms. Larger units also will be available, with up to three bedrooms and two and a half baths.
As for apartment perks and building amenities, the press release gets pretty specific:
"The apartment homes will feature nine-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, full-size washers and dryers, quartz countertops in the kitchens and baths, 42-inch hardwood cabinetry, and kitchens with islands and stainless steel appliances. Common-area amenities will include a garage-top deck with resort-style pool and cabanas, gardens and grilling areas, a Peachtree Overlook terrace, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a sidewalk cyber cafe."
Unfortunately, there's no mention of a crocodile exhibit. Or pirate ship.
