A project called Peachtree Hills Place that's been in planning stages for years could move forward soon. According to a post last week on the development's website, "Isakson Living and Foley Design Associates Architects will be refining the plans for the south Buckhead community over the next several months." The website indicates that pre-sale activity will begin next year for the first phase of the large residential project, which will strive to provide for residents through the stages of their twilight years. There will be 84 condos and eight single-family homes at first, with plans for another 108 condo units and four houses. Amenities for residents will include multiple dining venues, a clubhouse, a fitness and health center as well as assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing.
Plans originated with the purchase of the land back in 2005 by members of U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson's family. The intention was to bring a senior community to the 23-acre site, but by 2009, the project had fallen victim to the Recession. According to the developer, more than 150 buyers had expressed interest before the project folded. Over the years, lawsuits followed, but Isakson Living manged to hold on to the property, which has sat curiously vacant, surrounded by a chain-link fence. With plans in motion, it seems the "Continuing Care Residential Community" may finally get off the ground, though much like when we investigated more than a year ago, there's no word on a timeline for construction.
