While Georgia Tech has long been known for its engineering and science programs, it's also now a world-class institution for the study of architecture, city planning and urban design. Tech Professor Ellen Dunham-Jones is well-known for her co-authoring of the book Retrofitting Suburbia, a look at failed experiments in automobile-centric sprawl development that are being re-purposed into walkable, sustainable places people actually want to spend time.
