The Decatur Metro blog is reporting that an item on the agenda of tonight's Decatur City Commission meeting reveals the exploration of a land bank for the area. Georgia law requires that land bank authorities be partnerships between cities and counties, hence the pairing of Decatur and the county in which it sits. The piece gives a nice primer on land banks, which can be crucial players in the effort to clean up popped real estate bubble aftermath. With Georgia ranking fourth in the country for foreclosures, we can certainly use any help we can get. [Decatur Metro]
