Those interested in the development of the Atlanta Streetcar and the Beltline, or in Mayor Kasim Reed's general efforts to bring federal support to Atlanta's infrastructure upgrade efforts will find this excellent piece from Maris Saporta quite informative. There are federal funds up for grabs for transportation; after perhaps miscalculating with a big ask on the first go-round, Atlanta is bringing matching funds and a more modest request to the table this time around. Mayor Reed is known to be a strong ally of President Obama, which would certainly seem to warm his welcome as he calls upon various Cabinet officials in D.C. to rally support for the ATL. Bully for us. [The Saporta Report]
