The Marietta Daily Journal is one of very few smaller-town newspapers in Georgia that still practices journalism in the classic sense, i.e. professional journalists doing research, pursuing leads, et. al. in an effort to break news about important issues. As one might expect, the MDJ follows Cobb County pretty closely, and this "Around Town "column from Editor Otis Brumby and some of his colleagues suggests that the removal of the Cobb rail project from the T-SPLOST master project list was some kind of a ruse, and that the project will still happen. We certainly hope so, because some of the opposition to the light rail project set to run from the Cumberland area to Midtown seemed ill-informed and lacking a long-term perspective.
