Following in the footsteps of Midtown and many other neighborhoods across the country, the Buckhead CID has approved going big with video surveillance. In announcing the selection of ominously-named (which means they must be good) Iron Sky to install 16 cameras, officials nodded to privacy concerns, but assert the safety gains outstrip them. Video surveillance is now deeply woven into the fabric of this great nation of ours, and it does make sense. But in light of privacy concerns (and those who have them), you'd think they could have come up with a slightly less-menacing name than Iron Sky...it makes it sound like we all live in some kind of a prison under the sky. Which we suppose kind of works. Until the criminals get jet packs.
