Alpharetta's New Main Street Will Be Great (if the City's Politicians Can Get Out of Their Own Way)

New, 1 comment

We're finding it a bit difficult to discern the details in the news story that accompanied the image above. But we were intrigued by the rendering the Alpharetta-Milton Patch published of the proposed redevelopment of downtown Alpharetta's Main Street. With great historic downtown 'bones' and a law legalizing open containers, it's about time a city with a tax base like Alpharetta got around to creating a downtown for people to gather and start businesses. Not surprisingly, the project is mired in the political muck, with three mayoral candidates all accusing each other of some kind of chicanery in relation to the awarding of the redevelopment contract as part of a public/private partnership with the City. But we're guessing they'll overcome.
