The Great Gulch Project Begins Today

New, 1 comment

A massive infrastructure project to create a centralized transit hub in downtown Atlanta will officially get underway today when the Georgia DOT signs a $12.2 million contract with a trio of private firms to begin work on the master plan. "The Gulch" sits below street level among a tangle of rail lines between the CNN Center, the Five Points MARTA station and Castleberry Hill. Atlanta firms Cousins Properties & The Integral Group and Cleveland, Ohio-based Forest City Enterprises will begin work on the massive task, which includes land assemblage, project design and financing and attracting ancillary commercial development. Along with the TSPLOST project list, this project represents the future of Atlanta as an economic engine and transit hub for the Southeast. [AJC]
