The real estate crash/meltdown of 2007-(?) hath claimed many a victim, including several large commercial developments around town. Some- juiced by easy money and pipe dream thinking- were preposterous and seemed to beg for it. But other planned developments, if a bit out-sized, actually seemed both needed and conceived with somewhat reasonable expectations. The Jonquil Village project in Smyrna seemed to fit this description, at least to Branch Properties, who just signed a letter-of-intent to buy the stalled mixed-use development. In business for more than 30 years, Branch operates some of the best known commercial properties in metro Atlanta, like the Peachtree Battle shopping center, the Ashwood Restaurant Park and the West Village retail, also in Schminings.
