As America limps into the 4th year of the 'downturn,' it seems more and more of us are turning back to our agrarian roots and looking to raise our own food. So why is The Man trying to keep us down? The AJC's got the story today of a Forsyth County man who raises honeybees in his backyard, but is having to fight the county for his right to do it. At issue: whether honey bees are technically considered livestock. The arcane details of that debate can be found within. We're just glad to see that in this era of local governments struggling to provide basic services, the essential government function of keeping people from raising honey bees in their backyard has not fallen victim to the budget ax.
