While we usually associate Cobb County with calls to disband the Department of Energy and stubborn pride in solo, hour-long commutes in an SUV, the City of Smyrna has proven us wrong. With a grant from the DOE via the 2009 stimulus (another oft-reviled government program), Smyrna is converting an old Public Works Department building into a biodiesel production facility, where old cooking oil will be converted into biodiesel fuel for city vehicles.
