Big Chunk of Georgia Wilderness Protected...For Now

A Clinton-era rule protecting road-less areas on federal lands has been upheld by a Savannah court, protecting 63,000 acres of National Forest across the state. Though some 96% of public input collected on the rule supported it, a typical array of anti-environmental legislation constituencies are lined up against the rule, which they say allows the government to create wilderness areas without Congressional approval. The courts have sided with nature for now, but Congress could still intervene. [GPB.org]
