As film and TV production in the metro Atlanta area continue to run at full tilt, the AJC is reporting on resistance to a plan by Mayor Reed to add a layer of bureaucracy at the City level. Essentially, the city would like to establish a one-stop shop for film productions to deal with permitting and fees for shooting in the City limits. But critics say this is a solution without a problem and will dissuade production in the city. Mayor Reed is known to be pretty business-friendly and used to be an entertainment attorney, so not sure whose in the right here. But whether its star sightings or the overall economic impact on the state, all would seem to agree that film and TV production should stay. [AJC]
