Peachtree Corners Is A City Now

The residents of the formerly unincorporated Gwinnett County community of Peachtree Corners have voted to turn themselves into a city. It's the first new city incorporated in Gwinnett County since Berkeley Lake in 1956, and will instantly become Gwinnett's largest, with some 34,000 residents. The cityhood-for-affluent-Atlanta-suburbs trend continues...time will tell what it means for the fabric of the metro area. And the question of autonomy versus more government is an interesting one in the context of the current national debate. [AJC]
