A Lovely Craftsman in a Semi-No Man's Land

New, 1 comment

The gentrification of the outer reaches Grant and Ormewood Parks has been in (slow motion) process for years, with many stops and starts. The cavernous real estate trough that Atlanta is still traversing certainly qualifies as a stop, which makes this listing interesting. About two and half miles east of Grant Park lies a section of Dekalb County that doesn't seem to have a name; the broker babble lists only the development name of Parkside Walk, so we're just calling it the East Side. Offered here is a lovely 3 bed, 3 bath craftsman built in 2008 with an eye for the open floor plan and lifestyle details favored by today's consumer: generously-spaced rooms, dark wood floors, double showers and comfortable outdoor spaces. The price of $354,900 is very approachable for a house of this vintage and quality, but the location is a bit of a head-scratcher. The Moreland corridor has a long way to go, and given the glacial pace of the real estate recovery (assuming we're even in an actual recovery), we're not sure outlying areas like this are going to become the vibrant neighborhoods young families want to live in anytime soon. But what do we know?
