Saga Watch: Save the Connally Oaks!

Atlanta tree lovers may be making some progress in their long battle to save a stand of giant white oaks in East Point. Depending on who you talk to, the Connally Oaks (named for the original owners of the land they stand on) are between 150-250 years old and may boast the state's 'champion' white oak. After dodging the lumberjack twice, it appears the 30 acre grove of trees will be protected as a park. If there's one thing Atlanta can do to repent for its sprawl, it can protect its lush canopy of trees. [AJC]
