ATL Apartment Market: Economic Barometer

We try not to subject Curbed's 'civilian' readers to much hardcore real estate business stuff, but this article from Multi-Housing News provides an interesting glimpse at the interdependence of Atlanta's apartment market and larger economic conditions. The good news is that the condition of the white collar job market seems fairly healthy, with demand for nice apartments in upscale areas robust. The bad news: the lower end of the market continues to get hammered. But the upshot is that investment is moving toward older apartment assets, which means people will be needed to renovate them (construction jobs!). And their eventual tenants will enjoy nicer abodes.
