Midtown Could Lead the Way in Green Streets

Cities across the United States have been exploring the benefits of fundamentally changing their approach to both stormwater management and street scapes for years. Now Atlanta has joined the party, as the Midtown Alliance hired an Atlanta architecture firm to design new streetscaping for Juniper Street in Midtown. Using ideas like those pictured above, stormwater runoff can be redirected into mini green spaces embedded into the streets and sidewalks, thereby reducing loads on the sewer system and helping replenish groundwater supplies. Injecting some green into the concrete jungle couldn't hurt either.
