Add MARTA To List Of People, Entities That Need More Money

In more "there's not enough money" news, MARTA chief Beverly Scott is telling the Georgia legislature that they're at least $2.3 billion dollars short in funds needed to maintain Atlanta's light rail system over the next 10 years. Yes, that's $2.3 BILLION dollars. Now over 30 years old, MARTA is funded by passenger fares and a 1 cent sales tax in Fulton and Dekalb counties. Further complicating matters is MARTA's place among new light rail projects in the earmarking of potential new funds from the upcoming transportation referendum.
