A Win for Deal & Commuters on HOT Lanes

Governor Deal got a win on Thursday when the State Road & Tollway Authority voted to approve a reduction in non-peak tolls on the much-maligned HOT Express lanes on I-85. As we noted earlier, in responding to widespread criticism of the traffic-worsening conversion of free HOV lanes into paid 'express lanes' Governor Deal proposed lowering non-peak tolls from 10 cents per mile to a penny per mile. The vote approved this move, as well as other measures meant to make the lanes more palatable to commuters. We'll see how that works out. [11Alive.com]
