POLL: Down Payment Insurance: No Thanks

In very light voting, Curbed Atlanta readers have rendered a verdict on the idea of down payment insurance: it would not compel a majority to buy a home. This definitely knocks a hole in some of the conventional wisdom on why the housing sector remains sluggish...if it's not the fear of losing one's equity, what's keeping folks from buying a home? Perhaps it's upkeep. Or the loss of mobility. Either way, it doesn't bode well for the future of the big home builders.
