Beautiful (Old) High Performance Buildings

thisbigcity is fast becoming one of our favorite reads on the internet, and this photo essay illustrating 'sustainable refurbishment' is a great example why. You may recall our link to a related piece from one of our other favorite reads on the internet, where we learned that retrofitting or refurbishing old buildings to be more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly is a more sustainable practice than tearing them down to build shiny new LEED Platinum buildings. Parallel nods to the beauty of the old (as seen in this photo of Unilever House in London) and the performance of the new are a win-win for our construction dollar. [thisbigcity]
