Rather Large New Digs For, Uh, Idiosyncratic Dress Shop

If you've traveled Piedmont south from Peachtree or ducked into Fogo de Chao, Kyma or The Buckhead Diner for a meal in the past few years, you may have noticed a rather over-stuffed dress shop nearby called Miz Scarlett's. The place looked kind of strange, with its front windows straining to hold a collection of huge gowns in colors that spanned to the far ends of the spectrum. Having never been in the market for a pageant, bridesmaids or prom dress, we never visited. But we became intrigued in the place with news that it was moving down Piedmont to the former Beverly Hall space, which is large and quite nice. A visit to Yelp revealed some useful information, like this florid description: "(i)t's as though the elder spirits of every feather-festooned, ballad lip-synching drag queen, every eccentric parakeet and lap dog- owning old southern lady, every faded pageant ultimate grand supreme yearning for one more drop of spotlight have converged in this dusty technicolor showroom." Indeed.
