A House in Candler Park That Wants for Nothing

Assuming no one in your household has to commute to a location on the north side of town (not serviced by MARTA), we'd put Candler Park up there with the best neighborhoods in the city. The park is a treasure, the golf course's green space benefits even non-golfers, it hosts two of Atlanta's best festivals and its proximity to Freedom Park, the Olmstead Linear Parks and Druid Hills make for some of the finest strolling in the city. Not to mention its retail strip and the fact one can walk to Inman Park, Little Five Points and the Virginia Highland. And it's serviced by MARTA. And it's near Fox Brothers. Okay, we'll stop. These geographic features combined with this EarthCraft-certified 5 bed/5.5 bath house constitute an embarrassment of riches. If there's a tighter, more livable package out there for less than a million bucks, we've not seen it. Large without being obscene (3,248 square feet), the apportionment of space and amenities (chef's kitchen, workout room, office, in-law suite, decadent master, quasi-theater in the basement) are efficient and luxurious at the same time. Some may object to the disconnection between the outdoor space and the house, but the main floor screen porch would seem to make up for it. Anyway, $875,000 is the ask. We're seeing the value.
