Sandy Springs & Dunwoody Will Remain Cities

Lest you were worried, the young cities of Dunwoody and Sandy Springs will stay, um, cities. Last year, the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus filed suit against Georgia in federal court, seeking to revoke the cities' charters, alleging that their incorporation diluted the black vote in Fulton County and thereby violating the Voting Rights Act. A federal judge wasn't buying it and ruled for the state. We have to think the judgement will affect the strategy of those opposed to Brookhaven becoming its own city based on similar Constitutional territory. [Reporter Newspapers]
