Revised Economic Numbers Give Hope

Didn’t you know 2011 was a fabulous year for Atlanta’s economy? Well, at least that’s the conclusion of number crunchers over at The Atlanta Monitor. Recent revisions by the Georgia Department of Labor and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics are painting an economic picture that’s not as grim as previously thought. It seems that Atlanta actually gained 68,400 jobs during last year, and a good number of those were professional and manufacturing positions. That, along with a few other achievements, makes 2011 appear to be less of a lost year than we thought. There’s still 150,000 jobs gone since the start of the recession, but that light at the end of the tunnel is growing a bit brighter.
