Migrate to the 'Burbs for Schools & A Pool?

New, 2 comments

The suburbs of Atlanta have beckoned even the most dedicated in-towners for years. Space, lower taxes, great schools and the idea of kids playing in the safety of a cul-de-sac under the gaze multiple parents can be a powerful combination. Today we travel to Marietta to look at a house that resides in perhaps the best district (Walton High School) in one of the best school systems (Cobb County) in the state. The house was built in 1985 and doesn't look to have been updated much, but the 4 bedroom / 4 baths (including a large and feature-laden master suite) and living spaces have a lot of potential. The $455,000 list price also gets you nearly 3/4 of an acre with mature foliage and a pool. While emigres from the city will lament their new commute, and may find the politics of Cobb County somewhat off-putting, there's no denying there is more to be had for the money out in the 'burbs. And there's even a great, non-chain restaurant out there now.
