After months of wrangling with parents and neighborhood groups, Atlanta Public Schools today presents its final redistricting plan, which is sure to please almost no one. Among the details already known about the final proposal, the bid to turn Cook Elementary School into a 6th grade 'academy' to ease overcrowding at schools like Springdale Park is dead. In its place? More trailers- er, portable classrooms- for Inman Middle School. Though it's neither surprising nor original, it does successfully put a band-aid on the problem and kick the problem down the road, to be dealt with at a later date. Perhaps they'll at least consider a sustainable hometown idea for the portable classrooms? [AJC / Midtown Patch]
