As evidenced by its name- said to be chosen for the neighborhood's resemblance to a certain Pennsylvania town known for steel production- Pittsburgh does not necessarily come to mind when one thinks of Atlanta's nicest communities. But given its proximity to resurgent neighborhoods like Castleberry Hill and Adair Park, the anticipated rising tide of the BeltLine and the work of folks dedicated to preserving and reviving it, Pittsburgh may yet have its day in the sun. For the home shopper or real estate investor bullish on Pittsburgh, may we suggest the 'Historic Adair Park Mansion,' a collection of 4 structures on almost an acre on Gillette just off the Metropolitan Parkway? There's no getting around the fact that these buildings need A LOT of work. Tearing a couple of them down might not be a bad idea. But if you click through the photo gallery, you'll see vestiges of architectural beauty and craftsmanship that are surely worth saving. And those seeking an alternative to commuting in the car will be pleased to know that the spread is just a half mile from the BeltLine and a mile and a half from the West End MARTA station. Asking price for the whole shebang is $295,000, but there's almost certainly a deal to be had here. Who will grasp this opportunity?
