The Approved APS Plan: Selected Fallout

As you've likely heard (perhaps via our link earlier this morning), the Atlanta School Board approved a final redistricting and school closure plan last night. We're not even going to attempt to catalog the grievances held by parents in the wake a process that was bound to make nearly everyone unhappy in some way. But Creative Loafing ran an interesting piece last night on the reactions and accusations that flew when Buckhead's Sarah Smith Elementary parents learned that they'll be hosting 100-120 new students from Garden Hills. In truth, we were hooked by the headline: School board member: "There were no deals cut." But the article (and the debate that continues in the Comments section) serves as an illuminating snapshot of the fallout from an impossibly difficult process. Send other such snapshots to the tipline. [Creative Loafing]
