With all the talk of a $100 billion valuation and certain friends' predilection for over-sharing on the site, it's easy to bag on Facebook. But even the most ardent critic of the megalithic social network must give credit to the site for providing a platform and gathering place for people bound by shared interest rather than friendship. thisbigcity illustrates our point with a collection of Facebook pages dedicated to urbanism, one of Curbed's favorite topics. From a page dedicated to "Europe's most sustainable city" (Open Copenhagen) to one driven by, "alternative art, dynamic design and visual culture" (WebUrbanist), Facebook is rife with places people are gathering to discuss the art of the city. Though it didn't make the list (sniff), we're kind of partial to The Atlanta BeltLine's page. [thisbigcity]
