AWARDS— Atlanta chef Hugh Acheson's cookbook, A New Turn in the South: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen, took home Best American Cookbook at the James Beard Book, Broadcast, and Journalism Awards Friday night.
MORE AWARDS— In a surprising turn of events, Hugh Acheson and Linton Hopkins tied for the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in the Southeast. Both had been nominated for the honor multiple times. Hopkins won for Restaurant Eugene and Acheson won for his restaurant Five & Ten in Athens, but also runs Empire State South here in Atlanta.
