Animals Increasingly Finding Work With Cities

Sustainability can take many forms in urban areas, including cities' use of animals to help tame the natural environments in which they exist. From herds of goats and sheep being used to clear brush and cut grass to legions of ladybugs deployed to tackle aphid problems, animals are proving both a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly way for municipalities to handle natural nuisances. The piece neglects to mention Atlanta's own Ewe-niversally Green and their flock of kudzu-devouring sheep, seen most recently tidying-up Chastain Park. It also fails to consider how many jobs these ambitious animals are taking away from humans; at least they're not unionized. [The Atlantic Cities | AJC]
