While Atlanta's big business boosters have been busy flogging the T-SPLOST campaign for the past several months, they've also been working for the past year on a plan to rekindle economic growth in the region. With assistance from a Boston Consulting Group team, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce has developed Forward Atlanta, a 5-point strategy that recalibrates the city's efforts to grow to match the times. Some highlights from the prescription pad: foster the city's venture capital community; capitalize on existing strengths in technology quadrants like healthcare technology and wireless mobility; and continue to build core infrastructure. Characterizing Atlanta's current situation as a crisis (with unemployment & housing prices as headlines), the Chamber plans to raise some $30 million to advance the plan. [Saporta Report | AJC]
