Well that was fast. Just as the clarion call went out to save the Auburn Avenue corridor following its inclusion on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Endangered List, Georgia State University stepped forward to announce that it was purchasing the former Atlanta Life Insurance / Atlanta Life Financial Group buildings on Auburn and Piedmont Avenues downtown to house, among other things, its Honors College, alumni and admissions offices and a welcome center. GSU could certainly do worse than to follow SCAD's example and continue to expand its campus into historic buildings.
