It was way back in 2009 that Sandy Springs denied the church's plan to open at the busy intersection, and the issue was insufficient "parking." Three years, many acrimonious hearings and thousands of dollars in legal fees later, the Scientologists won approval for a plan that involves using some of the nearby U.S. Post Office's parking spots. Though the spirited opposition to the church was always cloaked in traffic and safety concerns, are we really to believe it had nothing to do with any of this?
