There's a Big Chunk of Un-tapped TAD Funds

TAD's (Tax Allocation Districts) now cover some 20% of the City of Atlanta's land area and remain among the best ways for local government to spur development activity in under-served neighborhoods. But limits placed on the way TAD funds can be deployed by Georgia law and covenants on the underlying bonds have had the effect of tying up some $68 million in TAD funds. On the bright side, Invest Atlanta has some powder dry as the economic recovery (hopefully) continues on, presenting more opportunities to use the funds in Atlanta 'nabes.
