While Georgia Tech, Emory and Georgia State get most of the attention regarding growth in the world of higher education in the metro Atlanta area, two Cobb County universities have quietly become powerhouses in their own right, at least economically-speaking. A study out from the Selig Center for Economic Growth at UGA puts the combined economic impact of Kennesaw State University (pictured) and Southern Polytechnic State University at over $1 billion and growing. With a combined enrollment of just over 30,000, the two institutions' growth trickles down into the surrounding Cobb County communities in the form of jobs- including some 7,000 off-campus.
