An AJC poll of over 600 folks confirms what many already know: using public monies to fund the construction of a new Falcons stadium isn't a popular idea with Atlantans. The football team's in talks with the Georgia World Congress Authority to use a a portion of the hotel-motel tax to cover almost 1/3 of the cost of a new $948,000,000 arena that features that supposedly all-important retractable roof. 67% of those polled think the idea stinks - not that they get to vote on the plan. Final approval is up to the city, the county, and the Georgia Legislature...[AJC]
