That Amazing Stack of Chairs in Freedom Park, Explained

New, 1 comment

Though it's arguably not the best season to be enjoying Atlanta's parks (the one's without splash pads, anyway), fans of public art, architecture and general spectacle would do well to get over to Freedom Park. Thanks to the folks at flux projects (and many others in supporting roles), a Portland, OR / New York architecture & design collective have installed the 'SEAT' Public Pavilion as the latest in the flux series of temporary public art projects. Conceived as a rumination on sitting, the piece reflects the idea that, "[w]hether we work, relax, watch, eat, sleep, or talk to each other, sitting is at the core of our relationship to buildings." Indeed.
