You Can Get A Lot for Your Money on the Periphery of the Westside Renaissance

New, 5 comments

The rebirth of the Midtown West / Westside area from an industrial wasteland to one Atlanta's most vibrant districts for the enjoyment of life has been in progress for years. But gentrification is a slow and somewhat random process. Which means there are still opportunities to get into the 'hood at low price points. Though this spot on Rice Street could be considered to be 'on the wrong side of the tracks' (it's on the south side of the massive rail yard lurking behind Huff Road that bisects much of the area), it sits just a short bike ride from all of the best the Westside Provisions District has to offer (i.e., JCT Kitchen, Taqueria del Sol, Miller Union, West Egg, Star Provisions, Sid & Ann Mashburn), among many other things. Given the somewhat transitional nature of the 'nabe, the 3/2.5 is secured by a wood fence and electric gate, which will give some people comfort, others pause. But $225,000 clearly goes a long way: large lot & yard, abundant hardwood floors, stacked stone on the street front elevation and updated (if a bit basic) kitchen and baths. A great opportunity for the right person(s).
