Somewhat lost amid the hyper-ventilating over T-SPLOST, Brookhaven's new city hood and another culture wars issue last week was Georgia voters' narrow passage of a bill that could pave the way for casino gambling in the state. Though the vote was non-binding and seems unlikely to bring casinos or even the mega video gaming parlor a developer wants to build in Gwinnett County anytime soon, the state's social conservatives are worried. Those who have charged themselves with regulating Georgians' sin were already bruised from the legalization of Sunday booze sales; now it seems the devil is poised to bring more games of chance to Georgia. If not in the form of casinos, than at least in the form of internet lottery tickets. [AJC]
