Would/Could You Bike to Work in Atlanta?

New, 4 comments

The first week of October will be the inaugural run of the Bike to Work challenge, during which participants are encouraged to log in their hours for prizes and classes will be held demonstrating the best way to achieve such a commute without, you know, crashing. Apparently, more than 25,000 such trips are already taking place metro wide, but it's gonna take some extra work for more people to consider biking as a serious option. The Atlanta Bicycle Coalition offers up the progress made by Long Beach, CA in its effort to foster a bike culture: improved paths, parking, and transit connections have paved the way for two-wheeled transport on a larger scale. Although we've got some serious hills, and the reality of August weather makes workplace showers a must, there's no reason to believe Atlanta couldn't improve its cycling situation.
