Welcome to Whale Week 2013, Curbed Atlanta's celebration of high rollers and absurdly high-class living! True, Atlanta's an admirably down-to-earth place. The city hardly teems with magnate and celebrity worship (note: the influx of movie stars and the dearth of paparazzi). But there's intrigue in the habits of the ATL's ultra rich — past, present and future. As for the term "Whale" ... we're borrowing from the Urban Dictionary: "A wealthy patron to a casino, gets paid special attention by a casino host so the patron will feel comfortable to gamble more money."
