Famed Atlanta architect and developer John Portman was recently presented the 2013 Four Pillar Award by the crème de la crème of Atlanta dignitaries, where one official lauded Portman's "architectural genius" for reshaping downtown. From the cylindrical marvel that is the Peachtree Plaza Hotel, to more stark edifices that recall communist Prague, Portman's portfolio is indelible. At the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Portman's 1967 landmark, he told the gala: "I have been blessed to be able to play in the world's greatest sandbox — Atlanta." [BuckheadView]
