Buckhead Claims 70 Percent Of Priciest Q3 Home Sales

New, 2 comments

The top 10 metro Atlanta residential mega-deals for the third quarter of 2013 all happened north of Midtown — and 70 percent of those were in Buckhead. Purchases included five homes in Buckhead's tony Tuxedo Park, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. One of those, a $3.5 million sale on Knollwood Drive, was used for interior shots in the Oscar-winning Sandra Bullock film "The Blind Side," which could explain why the price dropped $400,000 since its original listing. But the Q3 Big Kahuna was a custom-built equestrian wonderland on 64 acres in Gainesville (see above). For those seeking tranquility and boredom, the bucolic grounds are spectacular, nestled "just 45 minutes from the bustling metropolis of Atlanta," the listing agent says. Sure, the countrified infinity pool, guest cottage and horse arena are nice, but the mercilessly rustic interior is run amok with antler chandeliers, Native American artwork and frilly drapes. The sprawling property was listed in March 2012 for $11 million. It fetched a little more than half of that: $5.75 million.

Here now, the top 10 metro Atlanta home sales for the third fourth of 2013:
