Finished last month, this three-bedroom flat at the Residences at Mandarin Oriental is perhaps a little more sleek than one might expect of the classy, octagonal building. The designers, Atlanta-based GraysonHarris, had to win a contest just to earn the right to build out this 3,464-square-foot interior space. The result is an exercise in contemporary sophistication, with plenty of blinding whiteness and compelling light fixtures. The space, which includes another 262 square feet of unheated space, has listed for $2.4 million. It's perched on the 45th floor and, like several other buildings in the neighborhood, it offers "unparalleled views of the Atlanta skyline." The layout, we're told, was designed to reinforce the strong geometry of the octagonal edifice, designed by architect Robert A.M. Stern. It also affords the buyer the curious satisfaction that is bathing while watching mall traffic.
